ARE YOU A DEMOCRAT OR A REPUBLICAN?
of late, quite a few people have asked me to give them a quick and easy breakdown about the issues and the different candidates for president. so i decided to make you a quiz. i don't support third party candidates, so your only choices are democrat and republican. although i admire idealism, the fact is that a vote for a third party is a wasted vote, and a harmful vote in an election this important. (although if you're planning on voting republican--hey! vote for a third party instead).
note: this is not meant to be an exhaustive quiz about every issue, so don't email me whining about it. and yes, it's biased. see this? it's my personal website. i can put whatever i want on it. if you don't like it, you can go away and never come back.
also: do not email me looking for a debate or an argument. i discourage feedback. if you must contact me, i reserve the right to mock you in a public forum and to be as rude as i see fit.
with all that aside, here's the quiz.
1. Do you like the separation of church and state?
Yes. Religion is private.
No. I want my kids to pray in public school.
2. Do you think abortion should be legal?
Yes. Whether or not I personally believe in it has nothing to do with whether or not a woman wants to have one. My choice is my choice and her choice is her choice.
No. Fetuses are special.
3. How do you feel about gay marriage, and more, Bush's proposed amendment to the Consitution?
I am for gay marriage and against adding discrimination to the Constitution.
I think marriage should only be between a man and a woman. I don't know about those "civil unions" either. Hmmmmmmmmm.
4. What is your stance on the environment?
I support laws restricting pollution. Air and water are shared resources and no one has the right to poison them and endanger public health.
Eh, who cares? Hippies and tree-huggers who want laws to protect the environment just succeed in restricting industry and ruining the economy.
5. How do you feel about gun control?
I support it. Our nation isn't the most violent developed country because of video games and movies.
I oppose it. The second amendment is the best part of the constitution. I have a sacred, god-given right to own a fire-arm and further, to buy it whenever I want without any stupid paperwork.
6. How do you think taxes should be broken down?
Raise taxes on the wealthy and give the poor and middle class a break. The other way around is obscenely unfair. Trickle-down economics is a fallacy.
I hate taxes and I have a lot of money, so raise taxes on the guy who flips my burger instead. Or just lower taxes. Who needs government programs and upkept roads?
7. Welfare:
is an important social safety net for those who find themselves needing help.
is for the lazy and weak. Totally bogus. It's not needed. Private charities will help poor people (and maybe convert them to the ways of the Lord!)
8. Healthcare:
Everyone is entitled to affordable and quality healthcare, not just the wealthy. Health care is not a luxury. It's a necessity.
If you can pay for it, you can have it. The idea of having a national healthcare plan makes me sick.
9. Where did you stand on Iraq?
I was opposed to it. Bush's cowboy mentality and abysmal foreign policy was an embarrassment to America. Only Bush could take worldwide sympathy for the US and change it within a year to worldwide contempt.
I was for it. SOMEONE needed to pay for 9/11. All that coverage interrupted my morning soaps and my friend's cousin's pig's uncle's cat's grandma's owner's nephew was in the Bronx that day. I'm still scarred.
10. Do you believe in the death penalty?
No. Nothing can ever be certain enough to warrant the taking of a life. The death penalty is barbaric and costs the US more money than simply sentencing those prisoners to life without parole.
Yes. Watch those sinners sizzle! Two wrongs DO make a right on the right!
11. How do you feel about bilingual education?
How can anyone be against it? Teaching kids a second language can't hurt anyone, and Spanish is useful considering that Hispanics are the fastest growing minority in the US.
LEARN ENGLISH. My great-great-grandparents had to learn english when they came here in 1880, and so should everyone else.
